I live in San Francisco, California, where usually carry my digital camera (a simple Sony Cyber-Shot 2.0) with me everywhere I go, taking hundreds and hundreds of pictures along the way. Some of them are crap, some are kind of cool. Basically, my pictures are snapshots of everyday life in San Francisco...nothing posed, nothing most tourists would bother with. However, for some reason, something in the picture caught my eye and made me decide to record it.

I'm kind of random like that.

Anyway, I hope you like my photos...feel free to comment on them, good or bad. I always appreciate feedback.

When I saw this beauty parked outside The Bar on Castro, my heart stopped. This is a very rare treat...especially one in such good condition.

I won't blather on here...I'll just let the Shelby do the talking.

A walk home from the gym.

It was a beautiful San Francisco evening. The sun was going down, and as I walked home from the gym, I had New Orleans and Hurricane Katrina on my mind. San Francisco will probably be destroyed again at some point in the future, which is why I enjoy it as much as I can during this time before The Big One.

These were taken mostly on a single block of Vallejo Street in Russian Hill.

gremlin.

Hi everyone...I'm back. Finally. Yeah, I know...it's been a while. But in addition to my camera breaking again (this time for good) and a rather tumultuous existence since...oh...January or so, I haven't had the time, energy, resources, or heart to post anything here.

But guess what? I'm back. With a vengeance. :-)

I have a new camera...an Olympus Evolt E300 8 megapixel SLR. Oh, I love it. Yes, I do. I've started a photography business, and already have tons of clients lined up.

Life is finally smoothing out...and it's time to have fun.

So...this is Gremlin...I see her all the time parked around Pacific Heights here in San Francisco. She's great...a rare Levi's edition with real Levi's denim upholstery. Of course, the interior is just as bad as the exterior of this old gal...but somehow, she still has her dignity.

Personally, I think she'd be a perfect candidate for MTV's Pimp My Ride.

Oh yes...

Just Like the Movies

DreamWorks is filming a movie on my street, and my building is actually in it. The movie's working title is "If Only It Were True" directed by Mark Waters.

The interior of my apartment has an eerie glow this evening; the entire alleyway outside is all lit up because it's temporarily been transformed into a movie set. It was a bit surreal to have my street look like something out of an Alfred Hitchcock film. However, to be honest, I wish it was like that all the time. It's amazing how lighting can take this alley - something I see every day - and turn it into a noir dreamworld.

So tonight, I am going to bed in a place that literally looks like something right out of the movies - surreally lit - and Reese Witherspoon running around right outside my bedroom window.

I guess this is another one of those "only in San Francisco" things.

election day sky.

yes, it's election day, and yes, i voted. however, i think that who and what you vote for is a very personal thing, and there are so many, many weblogs out there dedicated to politics.

however, this is my photoblog...where politics don't matter.

so i present to you...tonight's evening sky, taken from the second-story mens' locker room of my gym. the gym, gorilla sports (a bally establishment), used to be the grand, grand alhambra theater. however, the theater went dark in late 2000, and sat empty for a while. it was resurrected when it was converted into a neighborhood gym, which is actually a very creative way to recycle such a gorgeous old building. the marquee is still lit up, and the old movie screen now broadcasts cnn in the morning and evening, and old movies the rest of the time. the balconies are now home to the cardio machines, and the floor where patrons once sat to watch movies is now filled with weight machines and free weights. yoga and kickboxing classes are conducted in the large area in front of the old screen.

it's actually quite amazing to do bench presses while staring at the incredibly ornate ceiling. i used to see movies there when it was a neighborhood theater, and now...i work out in the same place.

it's a wonderfully quirky aspect of my existence...and another one of those "only in san francisco" things.

here are some links to look at:
